The notebook goes digital: 3DC Tasting Notes is out

For years, every 3DC tasting has ended the same way: someone finds a pen, someone else finds a napkin, and the
notes go home in a jacket pocket to await the washing machine. We decided it was time the notebook grew up a little.
It has. Finally.

3DC Tasting Notes is out, and it is free.

It is the 3DC paper notebook, moved onto your phone: the same three quick measures, the same grade that is
nobody’s business but yours, and room for the whole story of the dram.

The 3DC method, now with fewer napkins

  • Three measures anyone can argue about, each 1 to 5: Viscosity, Boldness and Length of Story.
  • One grade that is purely yours: A to F (there is no E), with a plus or minus for the fine print.
  • Nose, flavor and finish, with a flavor wheel for tagging the peat, sherry, vanilla and whatever
    else turns up.
  • A quiet rebellion against the 98-point score.

What else it does

  • Capture fast: scan the barcode, photograph the label and let the phone read the maker, age and
ABV, or dictate your notes while your hands are busy with more important things.
  • Blind flights: pour into numbered glasses, rate blind, then reveal. Pass the phone around a group
of up to eight, get an agreement score for every pour, and find out, officially, who the contrarian is.
  • Shelf Check: standing in a shop wondering whether you have had that one? Scan it and see what
your own notebook says. No product database, no sales pitch.
  • Curricula: guided tasting journeys, like The Peat Ladder, that name styles to hunt rather than
    brands to buy.
  • The Snug: send your palate to a friend as a link and see who your taste twins are. The card
travels inside the link, and we keep no copy.
  • Six themes, from Nostalgic to Hacker, each in light and dark, for every lighting situation a
    tasting can produce.

Your notebook stays yours

No account, no cloud, no tracking. Your tastings live on your phone and nowhere else, unless you back them up to a
folder you choose or send something to a friend yourself. You can lock the app behind your face, your fingerprint or
your passcode, for those tasting notes you would rather your future self did not read aloud.

Getting it

The Support and User Guide covers everything the app does. If something breaks, confuses you or deserves a feature of its own, tell us at support@3drunkencelts.com. We read everything, usually with a dram in hand.

3DC Tasting Notes is for adults of legal drinking age. It keeps notes; it does not sell alcohol or help you buy it.
Please taste responsibly.

Slàinte. Never forget the funny.
